Michael J. Colligan

The Michael J. Colligan Fund of the Hamilton Community Foundation is accepting scholarship applications from Butler County Veterans who wish to continue their education. This scholarship is to be used for school related expenses and will not replace any benefits provided by the Federal Government.

Michael J. Colligan was a retired funeral director who left funds to the Hamilton Community Foundation upon his death in 1994. From these funds the Michael J. Colligan Fund was created at the Foundation to, among other things, provide scholarships to Butler County Veterans who wish to return to school. In 2007, sixteen scholarships were awarded to area veterans attending various schools and universities.

The Michael J. Colligan Fund is one of over 440 different funds housed at the Hamilton Community Foundation. Funds are established by donors to achieve their charitable purposes. The Foundation was founded in 1951 as a tax-exempt public charity to receive, manage and distribute gifts for the improvement of the community. Currently the Foundation manages over $82 million in assets.
