Mary Pat Essman

Mary Pat Essman came to live in Hamilton in 1983 after accepting the position of Director of Lane Library. “I realized right away how giving everyone is in this community. I loved my job and met so many wonderful caring people during my twenty eight year career there.”
“I made the decision to become a Legacy Society member because I wanted to be sure that I gave something back to the community that I love and that has supported me.” Having served on many local Boards, Mary Pat feels lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from so many other philanthropists.
“I saw very skilled board members making things happen in the community. I learned about boards and the way they interact with each other and how they get things done. It’s rewarding to see the changes that are happening in Hamilton and the positive impact of the Foundation."
Mary Pat is a former Board Member and past Board President of the Foundation, a past President of the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and of the Hamilton Rotary Club. Since her retirement she continues to volunteer in the community.
