Ensure Long-Term Support for Your Favorite Nonprofits

A Lasting gift to the Causes You Love

Establishing a Designated Fund with the Foundation allows you to support specific organizations or causes that align with your philanthropic goals. This type of fund ensures that your charitable contributions are directed according to your preferences, providing sustained support to the areas you care about most.

What is a Designated Fund?

A Designated Fund is a charitable fund where you specify particular nonprofit organizations or programs to receive support. The Foundation manages the fund's assets, and annual distributions are made to the chosen entities, ensuring consistent funding aligned with your intentions.

Benefits of a Designated Fund

  • Targeted Support: Direct your contributions to specific organizations or programs that reflect your passions and interests.
  • Long-Term Impact: Establish a lasting legacy by providing ongoing financial support to your designated causes.
  • Professional Management: Benefit from the Foundation's expertise in fund management, ensuring prudent investment and administration of your charitable assets.
  • Tax Advantages: Enjoy immediate tax deductions upon contributing to the fund, with potential for additional tax benefits as the fund grows.

How It Works

  1. Establish the Fund: Collaborate with the Hamilton Community Foundation to create a Designated Fund tailored to your charitable objectives.
  2. Specify Beneficiaries: Identify the nonprofit organizations or programs you wish to support, including 501(c)(3) charities, churches, schools, or government agencies such as police departments or parks.
  3. Foundation Management: The Foundation invests and manages the fund's assets, ensuring sustainable distributions to your designated beneficiaries.
  4. Monitor Impact: Stay informed about the impact of your contributions through regular updates from the Foundation.

What Happens if the Cause my Fund Supports No Longer Exists?

No matter if it is a few years or generations from now, if the organization or cause you designated ceases to exist, the Foundation’s board will honor your original intent by reallocating the funds to a similar cause. This ensures that your gift continues to make a meaningful impact in alignment with your philanthropic vision. Additionally, donors have the option to specify an alternative use for their funds in the event their original designee is no longer available.
